The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress said yesterday that it was shocked and grieved at the brutal killing of their candidate Mr. Baithullah and the innocent civilians of Muttur.

"The SLMC roundly condemn this barbaric act of the terrorists whose ulterior motive is to prevent Muslim representation in parliament.

The SLMC also vehemently condemn repeated attacks on our candidate Mr.Hizbullah, Deputy Minister of Posts, Telecommunication and Media.

The SLMC amnesty appeals to the Muslim public to remain calm and show their protest by voting at the forthcoming General Election.

The high command of the SLMC requests the President to provide adequate security to their candidates in the North and East," the SLMC said in a press release.
