| Berlin - 35th destination of Sri Lankan Airlines SriLankan Airlines is announced the launch of twice weekly services to Berlin, via Dubai, on 30th October. Flights will operate every Monday and Thursday to the German capital. The Dubai/Berlin sectors will be codeshared with strategic partner Emirates. SriLankan Airlines already flies four times a week to Frankfurt in Germany. The Frankfurt/Colombo route contributes much tourist traffic to Sri Lanka. Similarly the Berlin/Colombo route will facilitate the travel of the many tourists who originate from Berlin and previously had to travel Frankfurt to take the flight to Colombo. The Dubai/Berlin route will serve business and leisure travellers between these two cities. "Berlin will be SriLankas 35th destination. In the last year we have expanded our route network considerably, adding several new destinations through direct and codeshare services and increasing frequencies of existing destinations, notably London and Dubai. We Plan to make travel between Sri Lanka and other parts of the world easy as well as develop Colombo into an attractive transit point for long haul travel from East to West. We will therefore continue to expand and broaden our network of destinations worldwide through direct and codeshare services," says SriLankans Chief Executive Of ficer Peter Hill. SriLankan will offer its customers convenient connections between Berlin and North and South India, Male, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney, via Colombo. Adds G.T. Jeyaseelan, SriLankans Head of Commercial: The German market has been a leader in terms of tourist traffic to Sri Lanka. We are glad to be able to serve this market better with our twice weekly services to Berlin, which we are sure will be very popular. |
