Rs. 1 m as compensation for Muttur victims

Ministry of Port Development, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction has sent Rs. 1 million to the Trincomalee District Agent to pay as compensation and funeral expenses to those who were affected by the terrorist bomb attack on the PA election rally in Muttur on October 1. This is following a direction made by the Secretary of the Ministry M. N. Junaid.

Those who were affected by the bomb will initially receive Rs. 10,000 as compensation and Rs.2000 will be issued as assistance for funeral expenses to the families of those who died in the blast.

The chairman of the Rehabilitation Authority, M. H. M. Salman said that the compensation money would be paid to the victims once the relatives of the victims produce relevant identification and medical reports of the victims.
