A resolution relating to a free and fair election which the Human Rights Commitee of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) had given notice of was not taken up on Saturday as the meeting was not held due to a lack of quorum, the BASL announced.

However, Desmond Fernando, Chairman of the BASL Human Rights Committee informed those present that, in any event, he did not wish to move the resolution yesterday, but will do so at a subsequent meeting, a BASL statement said.
