| Morning Spice by Ginger Susanthikas performance at Sydney creditable Lets hope it will not be an over kill. The encomiums pour in but however well deserved they may be too much of it could lead to a dangerous sense of euphoria. Susanthikas performance at the Sydney Olympics was truly creditable but actually it was a poor reflection of South Asian athletics because the region has not produced medal winning awards. It is against this background that Susanthika collects her plaudits. She ended the medal drought and collected her rewards for it. Will an assured future tempt her to bask in the glory of her olympic truimph and relax. We wish nothing but a happy future for her. But she must be egged on to further achievements either by offering her more incentives or by putting more challenges in her way. She is a high spirited girl and is always ready to pick up the gauntlet if thrown at her. Susanthika reminds one of a panther on the move. She is coiled power all the way but how many of our athletes are built the same way? will it not be wiser to try and train some of our athletes for the longer distances. Egyptian flight crash Could there be more to it than meets the eye. Ginger is referring to the crash of the Egyptian air flight 990. The US officials are not too happy about Egypt refusing to accept their reason for the crash. They feel the Co-pilot had put the plane into a deliberate nose dive. The Co-pilot had said the Common Arabic prayer "I rely on God" as the auto pilot and the Engines were switched off. He has also been accused of sexual misconduct and he is alleged to have offered a female employee at his hotel a hundred dollars to come to his room. She had refused him. Tony Blair a liar? Is he a liar? Tony Blair of course would not mind it one bit because he would come off well in comparison. Now would you believe that opposition big wig William Hague could have downed fourteen pints of beer when he was just sixteen years old. That was when he made a speech in 1977 after fortifying himself with fourteen pints of beer. They say he may have done it all to look little more manly. The speech was made at a conservative party conference. The press however did not take Hague seriously and said he was not speaking the truth |
