| Unethical practice in hospitals I write to bring to your notice of a very unfair practice by a leading private hospital in Colombo. My teenaged daughter got chest pains one night and was taken to the private hospital. The doctor wanted an ECG taken and when we went to the ECG room there was a male technician, I asked him who would be doing the ECG and he promptly replied saying the nurse. However the nurse only stood and watched, while this man attached the ECG instruments to my horrified daughters naked breasts. This man violated my daughters modesty and lied to me. My daughter, a timid modest girl was in a state of shock for several days. She was very upset that without warning an unknown male, who is not a doctor was allowed by the hospital to take ECG on a female and be permitted to see and touch her naked breasts. Why cannot all hospitals have females to take ECG for females and stop males from taking ECG of females. The Ministry of Health and Ministry of Cultural and Buddha Sasana should also go into
this and put an immediate stop to same. |
