Eight soldiers killed in landmine blast

Eight soldiers were killed in a landmine blast at Piramanalankulam yesterday morning army headquarters said.

The Defence Ministry said that an army bus carrying security forces personnel returning after leave, plying from Vavuniya to Mannar got caught to a terrorist landmine explosion around 11.45 a.m. at Piramanalankulam, approximately 15kms from Vavuniya on Mannar-Vavuniya road.

18 personnel were travelling in the bus at the time of the incident, 11 soldiers suffered injuries due to the explosion.
