Golden Tip sold at Rs. 13,000 per kilo

A Kilogram of East Fassifern Golden Tip has been sold at Rs.13,000/- per Kg to M/s Dharmawansa, Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers (FWTB) reported yesterday.

A spokesman for FWTB said that the price fetched by the Golden tip is the second highest price obtained for this variety.

A Kg of golden tip tea from the Belibawala estate fetched the highest price of Rs.15,000/- a few months ago. He confirmed that the price fetched by the East Fassifern golden tip is the highest price obtained by a `High Grown’ tea variety.

The buyer, M/s Dharmawansa, is a Sri Lankan businessman domiciled in Europe, sources added. FWTB, which said that they sold this line of tea, comfirmed that East Fassifern is managed by Watawala Plantations Ltd. (CdeS)
