UNP MPs elected before year2000 will not accept duty free vehicles
Ball in govt. court — UNP will not comment on peace talks

The UNP on Monday decided to refrain from express views on the peace process as the issue was now in the government’s court after the speech made by the LTTE leader on his "Heroes Day."

The UNP Parliamentary Group which met yesterday under the chairmanship of its leader Ranil Wickremesinghe discussed the North East issue and pointed out that the government which was undecided earlier has now decided on a peace process and the LTTE has divulged that Norway has put forward a peace plan to both parties.

The UNP group yesterday took the following decisions.

* All MPs elected before the year 2000 will not accept duty free vehicles. The group will meet today to decide in a plan to get vehicles for new MPs and present it to the government.

* Call for a debate on supplementary estimates for the Ministries of Power and Energy, Samurdhi and Youth Affairs.

* Messrs. Daya Pelpola and Gamini Jayawickreme Perera report on progress made by Pradeshiya Sabha and Municipal Council members of the party.

* Messrs. Ravi Karunanayake, Rajitha Senaratne and Lakshman Seneviratne to advise the governors of the National Art Circle, Ravindra Randeniya and Jayantha Ketagoda.

* A health protection scheme for UNP MPs set up with the Sri Jayawardanapura Hospital.

* Evaluate and formulate a plan as responsibilities of the UNP group and Working Committee.

* To utilise decentralised budget funds at district level in consultation with the defeated candidates of the party to develop electrorates at district level.
