| Record making political feats Cricket, especially the one dayers have been Sri Lankas forte with track events in Athletics holding second place in the victory effort. But there are many other fields where our capabilities have been second to none. In the political arena we have perfected the art of beating opponents without batting an eyelid, even giving public demonstrations as to how the operation is done. The art of negotiation, if only to stay in power, has been perfected to such levels that the number of high positions in government like Ministers are no matter. This performances must surely add to the record book. But the icing on the cake is the style of government itself. It appears to be a distanced approach system using perhaps the well known telepathic projection technique by those who should hold the reins here but in reality are thousands of miles away. The powerful media of Television has been put to maximum use to portray to the ordinary people, the sterling performances of our players in foreign climes. The system apparently runs as it on auto pilot as the course has been set
with much, calculation and care. The biggest distractor appears to be the plans to bring
the curtain down on the war !! On top of this, there is a shade of opinion
among some that the war should never end, as its proliferation is for the benefit of the
Sinhalas. In this present era where theories abound, the heights of imagination could
easily extend even beyond infinity! |
