CHENNAI..The Janata Party president, Dr. Subramanian Swamy has charged that the Italian businessman, Mr. Ottavio Quattrocchi, an accused in the Bofors scandal, had been aiding the LTTE procure weapons.

In a letter to the Union Home Minister, Mr. L. K. Advani, Dr. Swamy said he had received information suggesting that Mr. Quattrocchi, who is now in custody in Malaysia, was indulging in money laundering and smuggling of antiques, in cohorts with the LTTE since 1985.

He was also helping the LTTE procure weapons from Phuket, Thailand. - The Hindu
