CIMA course on "Internet for Managers"

The CIMA IT Centre will commence in mid-January an Internet for Managers course. The focus of this hands-on training course will be to equip Managers with essential Internet skills necessary for organizations to retain a competitive edge in a global economy, CIMA said in a news release.

"Although there is a relative increase in the availability of Internet access in organizations in Sri Lanka, most organizations have failed to make optimum use of this new media. The visible and most popular use of it is as an e-mail postal system. The aim of this CIMA course is to raise awareness of the immense capability of this very resourceful network. The course starting with Internet basics will cover among other topics - business information resources, case studies of successful and not-so successful organizations on the Net, marketing on the Net essentials of good web page making, and provide an opportunity for participants to draft an Internet policy for their organization," it said.

The resource person is Chulie de Silva, Vice President Lanka Academic Network (LAcNet). She will use a combination of lectures, hands-on guided Internet tours and brainstorming sessions that will enable participants to upgrade their skills and successfully merge Internet in to their organization.

The course (6 hour sessions on 8 days from January-April) will be conducted at the CIMA IT Centre. Registration is limited to 10 participants per course.
