| Local software co among US team to visit Europe The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) of the USA announced that its upcoming electronic commerce trade mission to Europe is fully booked with 10 companies on board, a press release said. They are Alpha-Gamma Technologies Inc., Avaya Communications, Commerce Designs International, Digital Convergence, eTechlogix Inc., MediaSolv.com Inc., NeoIT, Runaware Corp., Strategic Service Alliance Inc., and Talentsoft Inc. One of the participating companies, MediaSolv, was established in Sri Lanka in July 1997 with nine employees. It has since grown to over 125 employees, with offices in Singapore, USA and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, the mission will visit London, Munich and Copenhagen from today (Monday) to March 2. It is being organised in partnership with the US Department of Commerce/International Trade Administrations Office of Information technologies (OIT) and the US & Foreign Commercial Service. SIIA is the principal trade association of the software code and information content industries. SIIA represents more than 1,000 leading high-tech companies that develop and market software and electronic content for business, education, consumers and the internet. "We had a temendous response to this mission, and we believe we have gathered an excellent group of companies to represent the US on this visit to Europe," said Ken Wasch, SIIA President. "Interest in Europes e-commerce market is strong and the timing is right, so we believe the mission will facilitate some valuable business opportunities during the event." The trade mission will be led by Eric Fredell, SIIA global division director and Danielle Kriz, international trade specialist at OIT. The mission will feature business briefings, networking events and a day of one-on-one meetings at each stop with potential business partners and other strategic players in the European market. SIIA and the US Department of Commerce are collaborating on additional trade missions to China and Hong Kong (April 3-11) and Brazil and Argentina (May 14-18) this spring. |
