Sometime back, Mr. Tissa Devendra posed the question: 'Where have all the sparrows gone? I have not had the good fortune of knowing him as I do not move in those literary circles.

Today, I saw a bat hanging from an electric wire, and that gave rise to my present question. 'Where have all the bats gone?' Perhaps Mr. Devendra will give an answer. Have they all flown to a place Diyawanna Oya and are hanging head downwards seeing nothing, hearing nothing, but with their mouths wide open.
