| Lecture by Indian artist Visiting Indian artist N. S. Harsha will give a lecture on "My personal experiences as an artist" on Friday 27th April 2001 at 6.30 p.m. at the Indian Cultural Centre, 133, Bauddhaloka Mw., Colombo 4. Mr. Harsha is participating in the Artist Residency Programme co-sponsored by the India Sri Lanka Foundation and Vibhavi Academy of Fine Arts (VAFA). He will be working at the VAFA gallery from mid April to mid May. His work covers drawing, painting, rangoli work, and community based art work. Indian tradition and symbolism are intricately interwoven in his work. His art represents traditional Indian nature with modern outlook. This combination of tradition and modernity stems from his up bringing in a traditional religious background and the inquiring mind acquired through his art education. Mr. Harsha enjoys working on community based art projects and has been involved in community projects in India, Australia and the UK. He also conducts workshops on art for school children. He has held many solo exhibitions and has participated in several group exhibitions. He has participated in international exhibitions and residency programmes in Australia and the UK, and had been invited for specific projects by V & A London and Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane. |
