Speculation is rife that former South African cricketing great, Barry Richards, is to be contracted by the Interim Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka, (BCCSL), to work alongside present coach Dav Whatmore.

It is also whispered in the cricketing circles that Richards, if contracted, will lend his services as batting coach.

Sidat Wettimuny, a member of BCCSL’s Interim Commitee, told ‘The Island’ that there is a possibility of Richards being brought in as a coach.

"This is all I can say at the moment. A media briefing regarding this is scheduled to be held this Friday. Please bear with us till then," said Wettimuny.
