In the morning of 30th April 2001 snipers deployed in the general area of Eluthumadduval in the Jaffna peninsula confirmed that they had sniped and killed one terrorist. The Information Department said yesterday.

Two officers and four soldiers were wounded due to terrorist artillery/mortar fire directed onto the Forward Defence Lines of the general areas of Kodikamam, Navatkadu, 03 kms east of Kodikamam, Mirusuvil and Muhamalai on 30th April 2001.

Ten terrorist bodies, which were recovered and lying at the General Hospital Jaffna mortuary, were handed over to LTTE at Kalmunai point, Poonaryn through ICRC in the afternoon of 30th April 2001.

Wanni — ICRC representatives have handed over 08 bodies belonging to the Security Forces at Piramanalankulam check point in the afternoon of 30th April 2001. Out of the 08 bodies 07 were identified and the remaining one was handed over to General Hospital, Anuradhapura.

Welioya — Troops on a fighting patrol attacked, a terrorist bunker in the general area North of Janakapura around 1.30 p.m. on 30th April 2001. Ground troops are believed to have killed four terrorists and later terrorist transmission confirmed the same.
