Arrangements are being made by the Ministry of Lands, Land Development and Minor Export Crops to set up land banks under D. S. Division level throughout the island.

According to the Minister, Salinda Dissanayake, a survey has already been conducted to identify the arable lands that are not cultivated.

The ministry has also decided to conduct a series of seminars to make the land owners aware of the value and importance of cultivating their lands.

The ministry will provide loan facilities, manure and seeds for the land owners under this programme.
