Delay in EPF fund accounts irks workers

A delay in accounting EPF funds for the year 2000 by the Central Bank has led to an outcry among workers since they have not received their statements yet.

The Central Bank had finished updating the EPF accounts for 1999, however the accounts for the year 2000 remains to be updated. A spokesman for the EPF Department at the Central Bank when contacted said that the accounting of the EPF funds for the year 2000 had been finished but are waiting for the concurrence of the Finance Minister for the interest rate. He said that the interest will be fixed by the end of the next week and statements would be posted forthwith.
