Norway grants US$ 1.1 M for NORAD sponsored IT project

Signing of Agreement between UGC and Norwegian Partner ErgoEnet to Implement NORAD sponsored IT Project Worth of US$ 1.1 Million

The Government of Norway under Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) has granted a US$ 1.1m for the purpose of establishing a Management Information System at the Universities of Ruhuna, Moratuwa, Colombo and the University Grants Commission and transfer Technology Competence to the Information Technology Sector in Sri Lanka.

The project agreement between UGC and ErgoEnet, to implement the project, will be signed at a ceremony today at 10.00 a.m. in the Board Room of the UGC, 20, Ward Place, Colombo 7.

Prof. B. R. R. N. Mendis, Chairman of the UGC will sign on behalf of the UGC and Mr. Jan B. Ommundsen, Member of Board, ErgoEnet will sign on behalf of Norwegian partner.

The goal of the project is to contribute to the improvement of management of Higher Education in Sri Lanka through establishing an efficient management information system. The system will support the universities and the University Grants Commission with better data for day-to-day operations, and give updated knowledge for resource management, planning and policy decisions.
