Help thy brother’s boat across, and lo! thine own has reached the shore — Sri Lankan proverb

by Russell Palipane
We all are complex characters are we not?

Eccentric to varying degrees we all are! Agree mates? If you do not, fine. Who the heck am I to ‘preach’ and sit on the judgmental seat?

Let’s focus on ‘Geniuses’ like Brian Lara, Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Garfield Sobers, Carl Hooper, Kenny Roberts (Snr), Muttiah Mur-alitharan, Ben Navaratne, Sanath Jayasuriya, M. Sath-asivam, Michael Schuma-cher, Christopher Pele, Ronaldo, Figo, Zinadene Zidane, David Beckham, Andre Agassi, Tiger Woods, Martina Hingis, Hansie Cronje, Jonty Rhodes, the Williams sisters, Pete Sampras, Graeme Pollock, Sachin Tendulkar and many others.

There’s no perfect, faultless human. There never will be. Again, I ask, agree with me?

Knowledge without sense is two fold folly — Spanish proverb.

If you take big paces, you leave big spaces — Burmese proverb.

Many people have said many a time, that I hold a brief for former South African cricket captain Hansie Cronje.

For that reason, they have at times barked at me, at times langhed at me, but never bitten me.

For that, I salute you all, SIRS! And Hansie Cronje too, for what he said and did!
