Terrorists commandeer four tractors with trailers

Ten unarmed Muslim civilians were abducted by LTTE terrorists on Monday in Sungavila, about 20 kms. North East of Hingurakgoda along with their five tractors and a hand cart while they were going for work a security forces spokesman said.

Nine of these civilians had been released later in the day.

Sungavila a predominantly the Muslim village has about 200 families whose main source of income is based on agricultural produce. Terrorists who took away four tractors with trailers, one Landmaster tractor and one hand cart belonging to these civilians, had fled the area when Security Forces had rushed to the area and commenced search operations.

Reinforcements rushed from Pulasthigama and Hingurakgoda detachments are continuing their search operations for the release of the other civilians.

The sources said that the terrorists would have taken the vehicles for the transport of their cadres and other equipment used in the attacks against civilians and Security Forces.
