Current political crisis

Reader J. G. Hattotuwe (‘The Island’, July 30) with his pickled contribution on the emerging political crisis ignores the vital aspect of the economy which is in tatters if not in ruins. The show cannot go on any longer. (The Analyst)

In an earlier comment, your reader had condemned the Sihala Urumaya in no uncertain terms while singing paeans in praise of C.B.K. and the P.A. He with "the vast mass of Sinhala Buddhists" he claims to represent without even a tinge of a mandate castigates the opposition including the Sihala Urumaya actions as treacherous and unworthy. A classic instance of being blind to the confronted mirror.

It is amazing and amusing to note that while admitting "the current chaos" he implies with his supportive comments on C.B.K. that the "current chaos" should continue. The democratic actions of a vigilant opposition are, according to him, treacherous and unworthy. It appears that he identifies the opposition as being the parliamentary opposition, ignorant that there is vigorous backing from the mass of the people. There is the Sinhala one about the unfortunate crab enjoying the warmth of the water unaware that soon it will be on the boil.

His views to bring forth a "cosmos" (order?) from the current chaos succintly enumerated, will not suffice to get the administration of a Base Hospital on a sound footing.

Indeed J. G. H. simplifies the task of good governance. This from an erudite reader of ‘The Island’ rings alarm bells for the future of Sri Lanka.

Are we worried? Yes! Yes! Yes!
