Moulana unanimously elected to chair conference

Veteran trade unionist and Minister Labour, Alavi Mowlana, who was elected unanimously to chair the Asia Pacific Regional Conference of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) which commenced on September 28 and ended yesterday in Bangkok, said that South Asian coutries are contributing their mite to the developing world’s ecoomy.

"For the first time three sectors of labour management, namely, government, trade unions and the private sector, have come together to talk about issues of mutual interest," the Minister said.

Mowland had been elected to this position on account of his excellent work on behalf of labour. (FRS)
