Drought relief appeal

The Rotary Club of Capital City has launched a campaign to mobilise the support of the entire community, as well as Sri Lankans residing overseas and well wishers, to contribute to the relief/rescure operation that is being launched to assist all those whose lives have been threatened by the on going drought that is causing such devastation and hardship in the country.

Among the many victims, those worst affected are little children many of whom are below five years of age, whose occasional meal consists of dry rusks or jungle fruits (of which there is a dearth), and the wildlife and livestock who are dying in increasing numbers daily due to lack of food and water. The need of the hour is food, water, medical supplies, water containers, transport (to transport goods received).

A website has been launched in Sinhala and English to facilitate the collection of dry rations, medical supplies and funds, whereby donors could visit it on www. sosrotary.org.

Payments by cash, cheques, bank draft or money order should be made payable to ‘sosrotary ‘O/A Sampath Bank. More information can be obtained through Dilani or Supem at Kent head office on 501205, Fax 501387, email — info@sosrotary. org.
