Sports fans in Badulla are up in arms as the construction of the proposed Badulla Indoor Stadium is being delayed. Even the allocated funds are being mishandled they say.

The Uva Provincial Council received 17.5 million rupees for an indoor stadium to be constructed at the Badulla Race Course and in this connection about five meetings were held and plans drawn out for the stadium.

The old football ground was to be dug out and the far end of the race course filled for the proposed indoor stadium where, badminton, volleyball, netball, basketball etc. could be played.
