| Six-a-side cricket tourney on Sept. 22-23 by
T. Rajah, Badulla Sports Corr. The winners will receive Rs. 4,000 and the "Javanayagam" challenge trophy while the runners up will receive Rs. 3,000 and the "Jagath Mullewithane" challenge trophy. In addition to above prizes special awards are being offered by B. Bagiradhan to the best batsman, best bowler and man of the match. About 25 teams are expected to participate in the tournament and entries will be accepted by the Secretary M. Uvais, 54, Welagedera Road, Badulla. Lankas disabled spikers for world cships Sri Lankas Disabled Volleyball Team will participate at the World Volleyball Championships scheduled to be held from September 14 to 24 in Solvakia. The National Sport Federation for the Disabled (NSFD) has picked a 16 member pool from the Panagoda Army camp for the championships. America and Germany the leading volleyball nations while Lanka is the only Asian picked for it. The Lankan contingent requires about Rs. 13 lakhs to go for the tourney. (DR) |
