Sylvester and Andrea Francis created a minor upset when they got the better of Sashivarnan and Shyamalan Subanathan, to win the final of the Family doubles championship, 7/3, 4/7 8/6 at the tennis tournament for the entire family, on Saturday and Sunday, conducted by and at the ‘Aquarius Sports Resort’, Marawila.

The Confifi Group, with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) organized and conducted this tournament.

The tournament was divided into six categories as Tie Breaker Single (best of three), Family Doubles (any 2 members of immediate family), Father / Mother and son / daughter (double), Father and son (double), Tie breaker Double (best of three) and Doubles of 60 plus (age of a pair should be over 60).

Final Results

Tie Breaker Single - N.S. Nishandren beat Harshana Godamanna by 2/7, 7/5, 7/2.

Family Doubles - Sylvester and Andrea Francis beat Sashivarnan and Shyamalan Subanathan 7/3, 4/7,8/6.

Tie breaker Double - Arjan Perera and Chammika de Silva beat Sylvester Francis and Harshana Godamanna 7/4, 10/8.

Doubles of 60 plus - Arjan Perera and Chammika de Silva beat Sysvester and Andrea Francis 7/5, 7/4.

Father / Mother and son / daughter - Dr. B.J.C. Perera and Manesha Perera beat Pathumka Cooray and Vernon Cooray 7/2, 7/5.

Father and son - Winners N. Sivendran and N.S. Nishendran

Runners-up B.D.R. de Vaz and K.I. de Silva.
