CMMS helps drought-stricken in Puttalam district

The Ceylon Muslim Missionary Society sent a van load of water in cans, rice in bags and hampers, dry rations including dhal, dry fish, onions, etc. to the drought-stricken Puttalam district with a team of volunteers to villages in Manalkana, Mullibramy and Thillaiadi where over 1,000 families were benefited by these food items in view of the continuous drought and lack of water in these areas.

The Ceylon Muslim Missionary Society also hopes to help similar drought relief in other affected areas which include Hambantota, Moneragala, Kur-unegala, Polo-nnaruwa, Anuradhapura, etc.

The CMMS also had a dua and prayer to invoke the blessing of Allah to create rain in Sri Lanka to help people from devastation of drought owing of lack of water and food.

This was conducted on Friday 14th September 2001 at Maradana Mosque Grounds with the patronage of Alavi Moulana, Deputy Minister of Media.
