The Sri Jayeward-enapura University was closed indefinitely as a result of continuing clashes between two student factions. Authorities closed the university on Friday, unable to control the increasing violence within its premises.

Two student groups of the same university have been clashing in the past few days. Some were hospitalised following injuries sustained in the assaults.
