CPC — whither bound?

On September 14th afternoon when I called over at a famous petrol shed for petrol the pumper on duty informed me politely that the pump was out of order and it had to be repaired by the maintenance staff of the CPC Peradeniya who had been on duly informed of the breakdown the same day.

Very strange indeed, the repair to the pump was not attended to even on the 15th. It was attended to on 13.9.2001 at 1400 hrs only to go out of order once again within half an hour or less.

I wish to ask the CPC why adopt such an indifferent and lethargic attitude towards one of its oldest agents who has been working efficiently over many decades and provided customer satisfaction at all times. People of the area call over at outlets they are used to for their fuel requirements, etc., and as a regular customer of the above-named fuel station, I feel sorry for their helplessness and dependency on the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation for repairs and the indifferent treatment meted out in doing so resultant in a drop in sales and loss in profits to the agent as well as the CPC.

From what I gathered, the spare part had to be brought all the way from Kolonnawa and the repair was effected only on 18th Tuesday. Is not this mismanagement and a loss of reputation too - to the agent as well as the C.P.C.?

Discipline and application which is sadly lacking, is just what is required.
