Many Sri Lankans consider the ten JVP parliamentarians as politically immature nincompoops. This may be true as far as their political experience is concerned, but the brutal hand that guides them by remote control should be enough food for thought with Sri Lankan fugitive Somawansa Amarasinghe, the only living member of the ruthless original JVP politburo in command from exile in the United Kingdom.

The massacres, assassinations and criminal destruction of public and private property in 1988/89 should yet be fresh in the minds of the public. This terrorist out-fit was so well organised, that they were able to close down all business establishments and offices at their will and pleasure, with a mere telephone call or chits delivered to shops through street urchins.

The government of former President Ranasinghe Premadasa cracked the whip to quell the uprising after the second JVP insurrection of 1988/89. The security forces wiped out the entire JVP politburo save the fugitive Somawansa Amarasinghe who fled to India and escaped to live in exile in the UK.

Fugitive Amarasinghe is even today, the JVP boss operating from the United Kingdom. He is consulted by the local JVP out-fit and instructions and directions are given by Amarasinghe from his safe haven in the UK. The Sri Lankan public may have witnessed recently, just prior to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the broken down Peoples Alliance government and the (Trojan Horse) JVP, Somawansa Amarasinghe appearing on National Television, giving instructions to the local JVP team regarding the MoU and the strategy that should be adopted to favour the JVP.

The public should not be misled by the posters displayed by the PA goons countrywide depicting the atrocities committed by the JVP in 1988/89 with half naked tortured bodies of youth tied to lamp-posts purported to be the work of the UNP. In actual fact, the tortured youth were all UNP supporters.

This was a PA campaign to sling mud at the UNP. The intelligent public are aware that no government not even the PA will resort to photographing lamp-post killing except the criminal JVP elements. The actions of the foolish PA stands exposed.

This is a warning to the general public not to be misled by JVP strategies to hoodwink the unsuspecting citizens. It should be remembered that the ten seats the JVP secured in Parliament was not by popular vote but as a consequent of the system of Proportional Representation. Only fools will call the JVP a third force.
