In ‘The Island’ of October 10, 2001 under the above heading, Dr. Carlo Fonseka ends his letter replying Dr. G. Usvatte Arachchi’s comment that 1200 million Chinese have not chosen socialism, with the following words:

"......induces in me the kind of silence I reserve for good and sensible friends when they say silly things".

You are not being silent, Dr. Carlo. You are shouting it loud and clear; your friends may be silly. You cannot claim the high moral ground of silence on this particular occasion.
