I would urge the leaders of the various political parties to very carefully select their candidates for the forthcoming election. We have had too many ‘misfits’ in the recent past. Those who do not know how to behave in Parliament are setting a very bad example to our younger generation. This country has had enough of political thuggery, violence and dishonesty and we can well do without the perpetrators of these.

In particular, I would suggest:

1. No one with a past record of dishonesty should receive nomination.

2. No one who has betrayed the party earlier should be taken back. Even if they are, they should not be allowed to hold high office.

3. No one who has committed acts of violence at the past must be denied nomination.

4. No politician should be allowed to interfere with the Police.

5. Annual declaration of assets should be made compulsory.

6. Party discipline should be strictly enforced and those who break rules and do not live up to expectation should be removed from office. Surely, can’t we find twenty honest, decent persons to form a Cabinet?

If any political party can assure us of strict discipline and absolute honesty and integrity among all its MPs, that party will not only be assured of victory but will also remain in power for a long, long time. This country is sick of dirty politics and those indulge in malpractice should be kept at bay. Please give us a good, clean Government. The country desperately needs one.
