Badulla Udawela Central saved by ‘light’

Bad light saved Badulla Udawela Central College from outright defeat, in their Under-13 inter-school cricket encounter against Balangoda Sri Buddhajayanthi Central College, played at the Badulla Esplanade, last Sunday.

Buddhajayanthi Central College, batting first, scored 160 and declared their second innings at 79 for 9 wickets. Udawela Central College were all out for 88 in 21.2 overs and chasing 151 runs for victory in 30 overs, were 46 for 5 wickets in 10 overs when bad light halted play.

Tharindu Hasanka had a match bag of 6 wickets for only 10 for Balangoda while Udawela Central’s Chathuranga Dilipkumara captured 9 wickets for 51 runs.
