BTEC computer diploma

John Keells Institute (JKI) introduces the globally recognized BTEC Higher National Diploma in Computing from Edexcel, UK, says a press release.

Edexcel is a leading provider of high quality academic and vocational qualifications. It is one of three major awarding bodies in the UK. Edexcel was formed in 1996 by the merger of two of the leading examination and assessment boards in the UK: BTEC, the Business and Technology Education Council, and ULEAC, the University of London Examinations and Assessment Council. This is the first awarding body in the UK to offer both academic and vocational qualifications. Edexcel is the body that also offers the London O’level and London A’level qualifications. With the highly valued and globally recognized qualification from Edexcel, the BTEC-Higher National Diploma qualification gives students the opportunity to attend and complete the final year of their Bachelor’s degree in Computing Science {BSc. (Hons)} in most UK or US Universities, depending on their performance.

The BTEC-HND offers many overseas education opportunities as well as overseas employment opportunities. Many multinational companies worldwide recognize the BTEC-HND since it is a higher education qualification that also prepares people for employment at management and senior technician levels. The programme provides a combination of academic and vocational skills. BTEC-HND holders will have work-related skills.

Recruiting the right people is key to the success of most organisations. The work-related approach of BTEC-HND enables new recruits to make an immediate and significant contribution when they start work and therefore the BTEC-HND is good news not only to students but to employers as well.

JKI is associated with Tata Infotech and Edexcel International in offering educational programmes in Sri Lanka. JKI is a fully owned subsidiary of John Keells Holdings Ltd. The Institute is a joint business venture with Tata Infotech Ltd. of India and has been offering a diploma in Information Technology since 1999. Initially, it offered the ‘Focus’ diploma in Information Technology. Thereafter, in keeping with the changing technologies and practices, the Institute offered the G-Tech Advanced Diploma in Information Technology. Now, it offers the ‘latest and more enhanced’ BTEC-HND. The Institute employs and relies on highly educated, well trained and industry-experienced professional faculty members, including members from overseas faculties to train students.
