The highlight of this year’s Mercantile 7-a-side Hockey Tournament, the ‘Super-7 s’, at the Havelock Sports Club grounds, was abandoned due to heavy rain, on Sunday.

At the time of rain interrupting the final, Hatton National Bank was leading 1- 0 against Browns.

The two-day event was conducted by the Mercantile Hockey Association and sponsored by Unilevers. The only goal of the final was scored by HNB’s Marlon Meuling,10 minutes before half time and soon after that, the organisers decided to abandon the match due to a rain storm accompanied by lightning and the muddy ground conditions.

Division ‘A’ - Browns bt. Singer 1- 0

Division ‘B’ - Airport &Aviation bt. John Keells 3-2

Division ‘C’ - Sampath Bank bt. Janashakthi 2-0

Division ‘D’ - HNB bt. Mackwoods 1-0

Division ‘E’ - Abans bt. Metropolitan 2-0
