Freddie Silva no more

fredy.gif (27575 bytes)Comedian Freddie Silva died at noon on Monday while being taken to the Kalubowila Hospital. He was 63 years at the time of his death. Freddie was recovering after a brief illness, when he suffered a relapse. He was rushed to hospital yesterday, but died on the way.

Freddie began his career in the 1950s as a novice singer at the former Radio Ceylon, now Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. He stepped into the celluloid world with the movie ‘Suhada Sahodarayo’ and went on to act in over 100 films, and several teledramas. He also had a successful singing career. (NP)
