Mr. Minister, we would like to enlighten you that in the not too distant past, there was a good bus service on Route Number 165, commencing from Park Road via Fort to Kaduwela and Route Number 198 commencing from Battaramulla via Narahenpita to Mount Lavinia.

these buses were always filled to capacity as it was catering immensely to office and school traffic all along its densely populated routes. Although the demand was increasingly evident by the packed buses, the services was abruptly terminated.

This has caused great hardship to the travelling public, the school children and the poor patients who call over at the hospitals enroute for their health problems. For it is not all who have their own vehicle for their daily needs.

With the opening of the Apollo Hospital, the various housing schemes and so many schools in the vicinity, it is a crying need of the moment for our Transport Minister to re-introduce the two bus routes of 165 and 198, as they definitely will be economically viable routes. Now, most people living around have to trudge three to four bus halts to get connected.

So Mr. Minister, please help us get back our bus route numbers 165 and 198 with even extended destinations, as this will sure help you fill the Transport Board coffers too.
