Presbyterian Girls’ clinch softball cricket title

Dehiwala Presbyterian Girls’ School cricket team, led by Lochani Perera beat Kegalle B.M.V. by 106 runs, in the final of the All Island 20 overs-a-side cricket tournament, conducted by the Sri Lanka Softball Cricket Federation, played at the N.Y.S.C. grounds, Maharagama, recently.

Lochani Perera of Presbyterian Girls’ School was adjudged the player of the finals and best bowler of the tournament. Jayani Perera and Nilu Mendis, both from Presbyterian Girls’ were adjudged best batswoman and best fielder of the tournament.

The victorious Presbyterian Girls’ School team comprised — Lochani Perera (Capt.), Jayani Perera (V. Capt.), Manori Perera, Nilu Mendis, Lakshi Opatha, E. A. Piumi, H. K. Piumi, Gayani Kodikara, Rangika Fernando, Pujitha Bizer, Sithari Muthumali, Masha Dheerasinghe, Vishi Sadana.

Semi finals — Presbyterian Girls’ School beat Ananda B.M.V. by 82 runs

Kegalle B. M. V. beat Girls’ High School by 3 wickets.

Final

Dehiwela Presbyterian Girls’ School 166 for 5 wickets. (Jayani Perera 50, Lochani Perera 66 not out).

Kegalla B.M.V. 58 all out (Prishanthi 18, Dilki 14, Gayani Kodikara 5 for 21, Nilu Mendis 2 for 10).
