Retirement age for politicians

At 55 all employees are retired from government service. A person who is over 55 is deemed to be unfit to even continue even as a peon. After the 1994 elections the President made an order that no one over 60 years should be permitted to be employed.

However, if you look at some of our politicians featured on TV you will find that several old grandfathers well over 60 are in ministerial and deputy ministerial slots. The convenient answer will be to say that these old folk have been elected by the people! The elections are only for the district and not to make them islandwide ministers because after 60 they are unfit to hold the post of even a peon.

In future, I hope these old people will be overlooked for ministerial or D/M positions. Then even the security staff can be reduced. We do not have to continue with our errors of the last 50 years. Wake up it is never too late.
