What is most nauseating and disgusting today is to read a Lake House newspaper, (the once great Wijewardena concern) watch a Rupavahini or ITN newscast, or listen to a SLBC broadcast, is that, it is one mass of lies, false propaganda and pro government news, that to get at the facts we have to resort to other media. These few institutions are manned by political stooges, a disgraceful lot who all sing for there supper.

This country is run today not for the benefit of the masses or the voters but for the benefit of hundred odd vagabond politicos who enjoy all perks, the privileges, the palaces, the power, (even the generators during power cuts) which the man in the street cannot afford. They can only curse this present regime till the mills of God start grinding slowly but surely.

It all started with Sirimavo nationalising Lake House Press and destroying the rest of the media in the mid seventies. It was counter productive. If she had won the ’77 election Sri Lanka would never have got television. We would have ended up as a nation of beggars. People curse JRJ but make use of his laws and the TV he only could have got for us, to stay in power and act dictatorially.

As Sir John Kotalawela used to say very candidly "handa thiyanawanan bedaganilla" (if you have a spoon dish out for yourself as much as you can).

How these politicos prostitute the media and appeal to you as servants of the people. Once they are elected, they turn out to be evil, lying, corrupt, tyrants.

Unless there is a complete metamorphosis in the political system, Sri Lanka is doomed and the future is bleak indeed. It is hard enough now, what the future holds is in the hands of your readers and the intelligent masses of the country, who have to vote wisely or suffer the consequences.
