Royal ‘69 Grand Derby
Nigel Austin’s yard sends out 5 winners

Popular trainer Nigel Austin took the individual honours when his yard sent out five winners and a similar number of places at the Grand Royal Derby held at the Mount Lavinia beach on October 28.

However, the ‘Blue Riband’ of the meet the Derby which was for thorough breds in Class I was carried away by owner’ trainer Gamini Kodituwakku after his filly Libo Queen won the event with ease.

The event was organised by the Old Royalists Group of ‘69 with Royal College, Principal H. L. B. Gomes as chief guest.

In all 10 races were worked off.
