Opinion
Cricket lovers taken for a ride

The T.V. station that telecast the Sharjah cricket matches announced on the eve of the final match in between its normal programmes that the match would start at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

People have a lot of work and their time is therefore very precious. They cannot waste their time before the match viewing advertisements and not-so-useful comments by the station commentators.

They also showed some highlights of the previous match which we had already seen and therefore there of not much of an interest to us. The ulterior motive in all this, I suppose, was to have us watch their advertisements. This amounts to cheating and misleading.

It was to mislead the viewers that they had announced that the match would start at 3 p.m. whereas it actually started at 4.30 p.m.

One and a half hours is a too long a time. Had they as usual started their station comments and opinion half an hour earlier, we would have had no complaints. They must announce what time the match will start.

On a day like this cricket lovers set aside all their work are glued to their TV sets.

So we hope that we will be kept informed of the actual time of the start of the match in future.
