Sarankara Road and ‘Asarana’ pedestrians

The Saranankara Road happens to be one of the busiest street, both during day and night as it serves an easy access to Kirillapone, Thimbirigasyaya, etc., from Galle Road, Dehiwela. This road is used by three wheelers, cars, vans, lorries, large containers and prime movers both during the day time and night.

In the recent past various unauthorised structures have come up on the pavement of this road and these are made use of to repair three wheelers preventing the public of being able from walking on the pavement to ensure their safety.

This has been brought to the notice of the Urban Development Authority, Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla and the Sri Lanka Reclamation and Development Corporation, Jayawardenepura Mawatha, Welikada but nothing has been done to demolish these unauthorised structures.

It was not so long ago that the Government took meaningful steps to keep the city clean by demolishing unauthorised structures in Colombo, Matara, Kandy, etc.

I hope that this letter will receive the attention of the authorities concerned to bring redress to the residents of Saranankara Road.
