| Appointed MD Susantha Pinto has been appointed to the Board of SELCO Solar Lanka Limited (SLL) and will function as its managing director, says a press release. Prior to this appointment, Pinto functioned as the CEO of SELCO, a BOI venture. The company is owned by Solar Electric Light Company, USA and Next Ventures Limited of Sri Lanka. It is also a partner of the Energy Services Delivery Project which is a World Bank sponsored project administered by the DFCC Bank. Pinto, having given up a career as a senior planter, joined the then RESCO Asia Limited as CEO in October of last year. Pinto has introduced new procedures, regulations and standards which has increased its market share cemented the companys position as the number one solar. RESCO Asia was subsequently renamed as SELCO SLL in May as a result of the acquisition of 97% of shares by the US based company and is a part of a network having sister companies in India, Vietnam, China and South Africa. Pinto was instrumental in introducing solar powered complementary products, doubling the staff strength and moving the head office into a commercial area in Nugegoda and making it solar initiative. SELCOs home lighting systems can be bought in cash or instalment basis, leasing and through credit cards. Pinto says that there are limitless opportunities in the solar field and the public can expect much more in time to come. The SELCO board consists of Neville Williams (chairman), Nissanka Weerasekera, Hans Schut, Harish Hande and Susantha Pinto. |
