| After one year what miraculous power is UNP dreaming of, asks
Anura Kamal Bogoda Delgoda He further said "Ranil Wickremesinghe is at present repeating the same stories he said at his propaganda rallies during the last elections. But these stories have been rejected by the people one year earlier. So on what grounds can he change the attitude of the people one year after? The only shortcoming of the Peoples Alliance this year were the power cuts. If so, during the last JR regime there were power cuts eleven times. When this government made all plans to build the Norochcholai thermal power plant the UNP stooges rallied round the church and got it stopped. If this power plant had been built there would have been no powercuts whatsoever. "The same old faces I saw where I was the organiser for the Dompe electorate can now be seen in front of this stage. In 1993 S. B. Dissanayake and party hatched a conspiracy and ousted me from the SLFP. But today I am back in the SLFP and is dedicated to bring the party to victory. Ninty per cent of the MPs today are against holding an election. So who wants an election? They are the bookies, bank loan evarders, drug traffickers. They are the people who want the election to bring the UNP to power. The UNP continuously lost nine elections. So they knew if they lose this election they would never be able to come to power. That is why they showed money in front of certain avaricious parliamentarians. The President had allocated 49 vehicles to S. B. Dissanayake. But he defrauded millions of rupees and jumped the party. "We need a member to develop Dompe electorate. So vote Upali Gunaratne to the parliament. I will help him to develop the Dompe electorate. The President obtained 475,000 votes from Gampaha district. But I dont need so much. The least I need is around 300,000 votes. SLFP organiser and candidate for Dompe electorate, Upali Gunaratne said, " I was able to systematically develop transport, education, public service in the Dompe electorate during the last few years. We ushered in a new era for the Dompe electorate which had been a thieves den. There was no political interference by me on any public servant. I will never encourage political interference for public servants. The combined Attanagalle, Biyagama and Dompe electorates this time will achieve a great victory. President, Biyagama Pradesheeya Sabha and candidate contesting Gampaha District, Gunaratne Jayanath said: "This is a decisive election. What is decisive is not whether blue will win or green will win but whether our motherland would be entrusted to the Tigers. As such it is the responsibility of everyone to defeat the UNP in this elections. It is therefore the duty of everyone to send a patriotic group to Parliament and not a group conspiring to destroy our nation. Western Provincial Councillors Dulip Wijesekera and Renuka Perera also spoke. |
