At the recently concluded National Badminton Championships Cornel Perera and Dhammika Gunarathne demolished many former national players to emerge champions in the master’s doubles. They beat D. Perry and Sarath Silva in the semi-finals with absolute ease, and in the finals beat former national players Thilak Amarasinghe and Nagoor Kaney in straight sets.

In the veteran’s event, meant for players ten years younger they gave a real fright to Hiran Fernando and Nandana Premachandra, who are former national poolists, before losing the final 15 - 14 and 17 - 15. (TPK)
