The Examinations Department said yesterday that the Ordinary Level Examination, scheduled to start on Tuesday, has been postponed till further notice.

Commissioner A. M. R. B. Amarakoon said that the delay had been effected "for security reasons."

The exam is to be held in more than 4,700 centres. The department did not specify when the new dates would be announced.
