| Post-election violence at Anamaduwa By
Norman Palihawadane In the first incident a Peoples Alliance supporter had shot and wounded a United National Front supporter. The wounded has been admitted to Anamaduwa Hospital. In another incident a defeated Peoples Alliance candidate had gone to the house of a public servant and had threatened the mans wife at gunpoint. In the third incident a shop belonging to a Peoples Alliance supporter at Anamaduwa had been set on fire. Two motorcycles also were destroyed in this incident. Police is also taking action to disperse all private security officers employed by the defeated candidates in the general elections. But it is learnt that the respective defeated candidates were protesting against such action on the grounds that their lives were still under threat, police sources said. |
